ABOUT US

a collective of Asian-Canadians

Although the racism of the past towards Asian-Canadians, such as the historical ‘Asian head tax’, has been less obvious over the past few years, Asians still encounter a level of intolerance and exploitation within Canadian society, such as stereotyping, discrimination in the workplace, lack of regulation in predominantly Asian demographic business areas, and harassment, Moreover, Asian-Canadians continue to be under-represented in many areas, such as the media, political office and public service.

Asian Resilience Collective Canada (ARCC) is founded by five young Asian-Canadian women, who were brought together by the 2021 Equal Voice’s Daughters of the Vote program. They found commonalities in their diverse lived experiences studying and working in Canada as Asian-Canadians, and wanted to create a platform for their peers and younger generations to share their experiences and learn from each other.

a platform for knowledge sharing, networking and mentorship

Acknowledging that there is a diverse range in the wide umbrella collective of “Asian”, ARCC aims to promote Asian-Canadian civic participation and celebrate the diversity of Asian cultures and identities. Resilience, empowerment and unity are three of the values that ARCC promotes and hopes to bring out amongst our communities. ARCC also stands in solidarity with other BIPOC groups and aims to foster more cooperation and empathy amongst minorities.

ARCC plans to hold a variety of events to engage with youth of Asian origin on topics such as political engagement, arts and culture, activism, as well as become a knowledge sharing, networking, and mentorship platform.

Keep an eye out for our events in the upcoming months! We are excited for you to join us and expand our communities.
